Writing Workshop with Elissa Dickson

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Event Details

Join former Telluridian and WPL employee Elissa Dickson for An Appetite for Words!

With the advent of the pandemic and staying home more, people have been cooking at home a lot. Sourdough starter seems like a strong contender for 2020 word of the year. This difficult time has also left us hungry for many things we once took for granted- hugs from friends, going out for a movie, visiting the library, the list goes on and on.  In this workshop we will read poems about food as a jumping off point for exploring themes of nourishment, hunger, and impermanence.

Creative prompts and fun activities will be used to help you get your creative juices flowing. So come put pen to paper with others in an inclusive nurturing (virtual) environment and write creatively! All backgrounds and levels welcome.

“Writing is really a way of thinking--not just feeling but thinking about things that are disparate,
unresolved, mysterious, problematic or just sweet.” Toni Morrison
