Nourishing Life: Building Immunity & Health with Chinese Health Practices... for Spring!

Learn how to build your immune system naturally with with Diane Atkinson of An Tao Acupuncture in Mountain Village.

After the long, dark, dormant months of winter, spring emerges and unfolds with new growth. The classic Chinese medical texts tell us that spring is the time when all things in Heaven and Earth are born. It is a time of blossoming, blooming and vitality — in nature and in our bodies and lives.

To support this time of birth and creativity, we learn to adjust a few daily habits to live in harmony with and "ride the wave" of the spring. This allows us to optimize our health now, while laying the groundwork for a healthy, flourishing summer. Every season corresponds to an internal organ; spring is the time to care for and nourish the liver system. Learn which foods, types of exercise and other practices support this system and support your health.

But wait…there’s more! Seasons do not just correlate to months on the calendar. Everything has a season:  relationships, work, projects, hobbies and even diseases. We’ll discuss how to recognize the seasons in other areas of your life and learn how to consciously, mindfully move through them. In this way, you’ll discover how to maximize the potential of each stage and lay the foundation to optimize the next. Have a pen and some paper ready.  We'll be doing a couple of exercises!

Diane Atkinson is a licensed acupuncturist and owner of An Tao Acupuncture in Mountain Village. She is a 1980 graduate of Telluride High School. In addition to practicing medicine, she translates classical Chinese medical texts and practices Chinese calligraphy.
