Event Details

For our final Backcountry Chat of the 2022/2023 season, we will focus on Danger Trends: analyzing accidents, avalanche danger ratings, and the process of avalanche forecasting. In this session, we will pull back the curtain a bit about the forecasting process, helping our community better understand how and why avalanche ratings are chosen. We'll also have free pizza, so feel free to come hungry!

Want to learn more about snowpack, snow science, safety in the backcountry, and more? Whether you're a seasoned backcountry or totally new, a resort or backcountry skier, hiker, ice climber, cross-country skier, or none of the above, new to the region or a longtime local, these chats will have pertinent info for you!

Telluride Backcountry Chats are brought to you by the Peter Inglis Avalanche Education Fund, the Telluride Mountain Club, Mountain Trip, Telluride Mountain Guides, San Juan Outdoor Adventures, and Telluride Helitrax.
